Bill C-15: An Act Respecting the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples - Resources for Understanding

2021, 6 pp
After years of Indigenous-led advocacy, the Government of Canada tabled federal legislation on December 3, 2020 to implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). The following is an introductory list of resources that can help communities understand what Bill C-15 is, the diverse conversations that surround it, the history of how we got here, why many—Indigenous organizations, the TRC, unions, faith communities, and more—are supporting C-15, and why some do not. This list is not exhaustive, but it can help raise awareness and nurture informed reflection. If you are aware of important resources that are missing, please send me an email and I will update this list as we go along.
