The Court Case of the Creatures
The Court Case of the Creatures is a seriously whimsical story of the watery earth's day in court. This when a tempest casts a party boat of "resource developers" and their tricky-tongued lawyer onto a northern island where Bear and Otter make a citizen's arrest. A storm-tossed Supreme Court judge agrees to hear the case put forward by Raven, Heron, Coyote, and Cree elder Mary Mataugwin. The jury? A canoe load of children along with Turtle, Birch tree and Wolf.
Stories, songs, tricks, turns and a river of drawings unfold the tragical comical business. And underlying it all is the ecological wisdom of diverse spiritual traditions, Indigenous, Hebrew, Christian, and Buddhist.
